The FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate is required to fly drones commercially in the US. This includes real estate photography, inspections, delivery, mapping, and any other paid drone work. You must pass a 60-question knowledge test at an FAA-approved testing center.
Do I need Part 107 for hobby flying?
No. Recreational flyers follow different rules (The Exception for Recreational Flyers). But if you ever want to sell photos/videos, do inspections, or fly for any business purpose, you need Part 107.
